Education
I have a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Victoria, graduating in 1997. I specialized in control systems and robotics and worked a few years after graduation doing industrial electrical design. I started tutoring in 2002 to help out a friend going back to school, and decided to tutor more students while on maternity leave. I found tutoring very gratifying and find working with teens much less stressful than the professional world of engineering. I like to encourage all students, especially girls, to pursue math and sciences and to find the fascination and fun in these subject areas.
Experience
I have been tutor since 2002, primarily in high school math. I've also helped adult students doing upgrades or preparing to do math proficiency tests to get into programs such as dentistry, teaching and business. I've also help students preparing or starting in electrical apprenticeship programs. I help students with homework, test review and work on confidence and math anxiety reduction. I maintain a relaxed atmosphere to encourage learning. I'm located in beautiful Cedar, equidistant between Ladysmith and downtown Nanaimo. Currently I do all tutoring on-line using Zoom.

Hobbies
I like gardening, running and watching hockey in addition to doing math! I'm very flexible with my schedule to accommodate a student's extracurricular activities. Intrinsic motivation pursuing personal interests translates over to a student's academic endevours as well, fostering better organization and work ethic to maintain good school grades so they can continue doing what they love most.
